2009

Last weekend, after seeing the Dark Knight in IMAX (which was phenomenal by the way) David and I found ourselves at this little Irish pub in Beacon Hill - "Emmet's Pub." Over a burger (yes, we are are officially omnivores again,) fish and chips, and a couple brews we talked about 2008 . . . the good, and the not so good - mostly good though.
It's just crazy how quickly a year passes. It's hard to think back and remember everything that happened; at first it almost seems like the whole year has passed and I have just sat by, not accomplishing much of anything. Then, as we think back, 2008 comes into view a little more clearly. Still though, I feel like I haven't accomplished as much as I would like.
I'm excited for 2009. I think it is going to be a year of change for us. Change and transition are always a little difficult, but I think we're ready for it, and in need of it. And I finally feel at peace with our decision to move. On the 12 hour train ride back from Rochester, between Yankees documentaries, I'm pretty sure that is all we thought about. We made our pros and cons lists, which helped, but at the same time, I think made me even more uncertain. For the past couple months, I've just been praying that I would have peace about our decision; And I think I do now, or am starting to anyhow.
I'm not a big one for New Year resolutions, but I do like to think about what I would like to do and accomplish. The program I'm studying in whole health is teaching me how the body works together as a whole - physically, emotionally, environmentally, nutritionally, and spiritually. I'm really learning a lot, and I like to think that it's having an impact (albeit a slow going one,) in how I think, and live my life.
Things I would like to work on, become, and accomplish in the upcoming year and years:

physical - I want to ride my bike more, and build more physical activity into my daily routine. I want to learn more about how the body works. I want to learn new things every day. I want to get really good at my job. I hope to move this Spring: find a new job, new apartment, and to get involved in the new community that I am in. I want to travel more - maybe not in this year, but in upcoming years. I want to learn Japanese. I want to finish my whole health educator program. I want to get a dog. I want to live a healthier lifestyle.
emotional - I need to stay in closer touch with my family and friends. I need to make an effort to make new friendships, and to open up. They will never replace my friends at home, that is impossible, but I need this. I need to be patient, and slow to anger. I hope to be a stronghold and a support for david, just as he is for me - to love him, cherish him, and never take him for granted.
environmental - I want to be more aware of the environment - the environment I live in and how it impacts me... and how the things I do impact the environment. I want to use fewer chemicals. I want to not have a car for as long as I feasible can. I want to learn more about trees and birds. I want to learn how to make things.
nutritionally - I want to eat slower, and eat less in front of the TV. I want to learn about and have a garden. I want to eat food that is organic and grown, raised, and harvested in a sustainable way. I want to learn more about nutrition and whole health, and help others understand it. I want to eat more vegetables. I want to eat fewer processed and refined foods.
spiritually - I need to find a church, to pray continually, and to read the Bible. I need to be less critical, more patient, and more humbled.

lady leg

I got my tattoo finished up yesterday!! She is very swollen and red, but even still, looks absolutely amazing.

We are having our first dusting of snow this morning. It looks so pretty...and David put the Christmas lights up in our room yesterday; I love the holidays so much. I wish I could slow the weeks down a little, because they are just going by too quickly.
